Research Interests

Thomas H. Pearce has been a Professor of Petrology at Queen's University since 1972. Trained in petrology and geochemistry, he has worked mainly on volcanic rocks. Early work concerned a subject now known as Pearce Element Ratios. For the past decade he has worked on laser interference microscopy and interference imaging. Current interests are: interference imaging, studies of dynamical systems and applications of neural networks to natural time series and, pseudo-time series, data. Current subject matter includes samples of zoned oscillatory plagioclase from the Lesser Antilles and other volcanic areas.
