Professor Hanes' Research interests include:
  • Precambrian geology and geochronology: application of 40Ar/39Ar geochronology and geothermometry to determine uplift and cooling histories in orogens including the Canadian Superior and Grenville Provinces
  • Mineralogical studies to interpret K-Ar systematics
  • Stratigraphy and structure of Archean greenstone belts
  • Engineering education
